Galaxy S26 FE is $699 with last year’s specs, Android 17, and a few new features

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S26 FE, a device that carries a higher price tag and largely similar specifications to last year's Galaxy S25 FE – often referred to as a poster child for the ongoing "RAMageddon" situation. The device features a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, the Exynos 2500 chip, 8GB of RAM paired with storage options of either 128GB or 256GB, a 4,900 mAh battery capable of 45W charging, and a triple camera system on the back. This includes a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom.

However, the most significant change this year is that the Galaxy S26 FE comes pre-installed with Android 17 and One UI 9, a version of the operating system previously only available on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 series. The update also brings in a host of new features powered by AI, including a "My FanCam" that tracks subjects in video for social sharing, and additional AI capabilities.

In terms of appearance, Samsung has made some design updates, introducing a camera bump that better matches the rest of the Galaxy S26 series. The device is available in three color options: "Blueberry," "Graphite," and "Pistachio." Despite the Galaxy S25 FE launching at a lower price point of $50 less in the previous year, and selling as low as $500 through various carriers and retailers, the Galaxy S26 FE is being offered at a higher starting price. It will be available for purchase starting September 4.
