French Alps cable car accident leaves 23 injured

A cable car accident in the French resort of Alpe d'Huez left 23 people injured, with three in critical condition, according to officials. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at an altitude of 2,300 meters. There were around 50 individuals in the cabin when the accident happened. Mayor Jean-Yves Noyrey informed AFP that the majority of the injured were in shock, with many cases of concussion.

He believed most of the injured had already left the hospital. While cable cars are designed to stabilize themselves in sudden braking, the collision with the crane caused the car to tilt, and the people inside slid. Noyrey expressed that the operator's quick action to reverse the cabin and level it played a crucial role in saving lives.
