Follow the rules when recruiting abroad, tourism minister tells MM2H agents

Tourism Minister Tiong King Sing has warned MM2H Programme agents to abide by the laws of the countries where they operate while promoting the programme and recruiting participants abroad to avoid confusion and fraud. He emphasized that having a license to operate in Malaysia does not automatically satisfy regulatory requirements in other nations.

Tiong advised agents to understand local laws and work with local authorities when advertising MM2H and recruiting clients in foreign countries. During his recent visit to South Korea, Tiong discussed this issue with representatives of the Malaysian Association in the Republic of Korea. The association highlighted that some MM2H agents in Malaysia may not fully comprehend the regulatory framework and were dealing directly with local individuals, resulting in multiple parties claiming they could manage MM2H applications.

Tiong pledged to remind all MM2H agent companies to comply with all relevant rules and regulations upon his return to Malaysia. He stressed that the focus should be on protecting applicants and ensuring the market grows in a transparent, legal, and orderly manner. Tiong also highlighted the strong potential for the Korean market, particularly among retirees who wish to make Malaysia their second home during winter.

He expressed hope that MM2H agents would continue to strengthen promotional efforts in the Korean market and collaborate with local industry partners to promote the programme effectively.
