Football Preview 2026 | After back-to-back historic seasons, Frankfort vying for another

SHORT GAP, West Virginia — With back-to-back Class AA state titles and 28 straight wins under their belt, Frankfort has risen from a "that school out in Short Gap" to a team on the radar of every city, town, and "holler" in the state. Frankfort's 28-game streak ranks 10th-longest in the nation, with Garden City, New York holding the record for 66 consecutive victories.

In 2025, the Falcons leaned into their experience, bringing back All-Area and Class AA All-State players like Braydn Tyler and Knox Kimble, while focusing on moving forward rather than riding on past success. Frankfort's head coach, Kevin Whiteman, emphasized the importance of hard work and avoiding injury as the team prepared for their upcoming season.

Tyler, who threw the state title-winning pass in 2024, is expected to be a key player once again, supported by returning offensive linemen Knox Kimble, Anthony Smith, Cole Shanholtz, Jed Evans, and Gunnar Bradshaw. The team's offensive play is bolstered by the return of Bradshaw and Peyton Brittingham, both known for their toughness and dedication.
