Flag football teams prepare for first sanctioned season

Maize, Kansas is just a week away from hosting the inaugural sanctioned season of girls flag football. Eleven high school teams gathered at Maize South High School on Wednesday night for a preliminary meet. Hayden Pandey, a Wichita North senior, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, reflecting on her childhood dream of playing football despite it being a boys-only sport.

She emphasized her excitement about being part of the new sport. Similarly, Esther Cunningham, a Maize South senior, stated her enthusiasm for contributing to history. The first official day of the regular season is set for next Wednesday, with 29 games scheduled. Bishop Carroll senior Rhys Hauserman echoed the sentiments of excitement, highlighting the significance of starting a legacy for his school.
