Butler homers and Williams hits a 2-run triple as the Athletics beat the Twins 7-4

Lawrence Butler smashed a solo home run, while Alika Williams connected for a two-run triple as the Athletics emerged victorious over the Minnesota Twins with a final score of 7-4 in a thrilling three-game series finale. West Sacramento, California witnessed the victory on Wednesday night.

The Athletics have now clinched the three-game series, securing their spot in the playoffs. Minnesota (64-70) currently trails by four games behind Cleveland for the final American League playoff position.

Tommy White contributed with three hits for the A's, leading the team's offensive resurgence after a five-game losing streak. J.T. Ginn (9-8) was on the mound for the Athletics, allowing six hits and four runs over six innings. Elvis Alvarado saved the day in the ninth inning with a scoreless outing, resulting in his fifth save of the season.

Following Jonah Heim's single with one out in the sixth inning, Andrew Morris (4-6) came in to replace Twins starter Connor Prielipp. White singled, followed by pinch-hitter Jeff McNeil's double that drove in a run. Williams then added an RBI triple, giving the Athletics their first lead of the game at 4-3. Darell Hernaiz added an RBI single, bringing the score to 6-4.

Butler's powerful solo shot in the seventh inning sealed the victory for the Athletics, as Brooks Lee had already homered in the first inning, while Trevor Larnach and Kaelen Culpepper added back-to-back hits in the second inning, putting the Twins ahead 3-0. Michael Stefanic doubled in a run, and Brian Serven followed with an RBI groundout, reducing the deficit to 3-2 in the fourth inning.

Royce Lewis hit a sacrifice fly, making it 4-2 in the sixth inning. Prielipp allowed three runs and six hits, striking out five over 5 1/3 innings. Twins right-hander Dean Kremer (2-4, 5.22 ERA) will take the starting role against the White Sox's RHP Luis Castillo (4-10, 5.19) in their upcoming Friday home game.
