FIFA unveils new training programmes for club executives, players

FIFA has introduced two new training programs for club executives, players, and coaches, set to commence in November 2026 and run until April 2028. These 18-month initiatives aim to enhance leadership and management skills across the football industry. Both programs, the FIFA Diploma in Club Management and the FIFA Players Executive Programme, will blend online learning with optional in-person sessions, club visits, and behind-the-scenes experiences at clubs worldwide.

FIFA's Director of Professional Football Relations and Development, Ornella Desirée Bellia, stated that these programs reflect FIFA's commitment to supporting key stakeholders of the game. The programs will offer participants opportunities to learn from one another while developing essential skills for careers beyond the pitch. The FIFA Diploma in Club Management is for club executives, former international players, and coaches working in managerial positions, covering leadership, governance, finance, marketing, operations, and sporting strategy.

The FIFA Players Executive Programme, meanwhile, is for active and retired professional players and coaches preparing to enter leadership roles, focusing on management, well-being, financial planning, branding, communication, and philanthropy. FIFA Deputy Chief Member Associations Officer Gelson Fernandes emphasized the importance of strong leadership at club level and the involvement of former players in football administration.

The programs have already created a global alumni community, with participants from 57 nationalities and 155 clubs across 55 countries.
