Execution date set for man convicted of killing 2 real estate agents near Atlanta in 2003

Georgia prison officials plan to execute Stacey Humphreys next month for the 2003 murders of two real estate agents in Atlanta's suburbs. Humphreys, 53, was convicted of malice murder for fatally shooting Cyndi Williams, 33, and Lori Brown, 21, during a sales office robbery. He would be the first person executed in Georgia this year, as the death penalty has been delayed due to litigation over the coronavirus pandemic.

Humphreys was previously scheduled for execution in December but had it halted after his lawyers requested the recusal of two members of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles. The last execution in Georgia occurred in March 2024.
