Defence minister: Malaysia ready to deploy humanitarian aid to flood-hit Nepal

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — Malaysia's Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin announced the country's readiness to provide humanitarian aid to Nepal, which is grappling with devastating flash floods. Speaking at the National Day celebrations, Mohamed Khaled stated that the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) are prepared to contribute their expertise and capabilities to support humanitarian missions in Nepal.

However, he urged reporters to seek updates on the missing Malaysian tourists from the Foreign Ministry. The disaster, triggered by an earthquake, caused severe flooding in a border region between Nepal and Tibet, resulting in the tragic loss of nearly 157 lives. Additionally, over 50 Malaysian travelers remain unaccounted for, with damaged communications and infrastructure impeding rescue efforts.
