Croatia keeper Livakovic joins Barcelona on four-year contract

Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic has joined Barcelona on a four-year contract, according to the Spanish champions. The 31-year-old will be at the Nou Camp until 2030, as coach Hansi Flick looks to bolster his goalkeeping options following Marc-Andre ter Stegen's loan move to Ajax Amsterdam. Livakovic's fee is reported to be 2 million euros ($2.33 million) plus half a million in add-ons, as cited by Marca.

The Croatian is expected to compete with first-choice Joan Garcia, with veteran Wojciech Szczesny providing additional backup. Livakovic, who has been a regular for Croatia since 2017, made 74 appearances and kept 24 clean sheets in two seasons at Fenerbahce before moving to Turkey in 2023. He brings to Barcelona his experience from a past successful spell with Dinamo Zagreb, where he won multiple domestic titles.

He is Barcelona's sixth signing of the transfer window, following Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Jesse Bisiwu, Rodri, and Joao Cancelo. Barcelona will host Athletic Bilbao in LaLiga on Friday, following a 5-0 win at Elche in their title defense and pursuit of a third successive crown.
