Barcelona signs Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic from Fenerbahce

Barcelona has signed 31-year-old Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic from Turkish club Fenerbahce, according to a statement released on Thursday. The deal includes a contract extension until 2030. Upon joining Barcelona, Livakovic is expected to serve as a reserve player for the team, which already features regular starter Joan García and veteran Wojciech Szczesny.

Barcelona had previously loaned goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen to German club Ajax earlier this month. Financial terms of the transfer have not been disclosed.

Livakovic began his career with NK Zagreb in the Croatian first division before moving to Dinamo Zagreb in the 2016-17 season. After seven years with Dinamo, he signed with Fenerbahce for two years before joining Girona on loan. He returned to Dinamo Zagreb this year on a loan, following criticism from Girona coach Míchel for not giving priority to his club.

Míchel alleged that Livakovic refused to play in a match and wanted to leave the club due to concerns about the World Cup. Despite these issues, Livakovic remains a consistent presence in the Croatia national team, having participated in the last three World Cups and the last two European Championships.
