Connor Norby’s grand slam and 3 2-run homers help Rockies to a 13-1 win over the Nationals

On Wednesday night, the Colorado Rockies secured a decisive 13-1 victory over the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park. Colorado's Connor Norby led the charge with a grand slam, while Troy Johnston, Cole Carrigg, and Hunter Goodman each hit two-run homers, contributing to an overwhelming margin. Goodman and TJ Rumfield, along with Willi Castro, loaded the bases in the seventh inning, setting the stage for Norby’s powerful hit that extended Colorado's lead to 8-1.

Norby, promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque on August 11, has been in outstanding form, reaching base in all 14 games for the Rockies, hitting five RBIs and extending his hitting streak to 11 games on Wednesday. Norby, who had two hits and five RBIs on Wednesday, further solidified his impact with two additional hits and five RBIs.

Troy Johnston opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the fifth inning, and Cole Carrigg added a 395-foot shot to extend the lead to 4-1. Goodman extended his season-long home run streak with his 36th homer of the year in the eighth inning. Tanner Gordon pitched seven innings of one-run ball for Colorado, striking out five and giving up six hits, while Zach Agnos stepped in for the final two innings, leaving the door open for the Rockies as they prepared for the series finale against the Nationals on Thursday.

Andrés Chaparro accounted for the Nationals' lone run with a solo homer in the second inning, while Will Dion allowed four runs on four hits over 2 2/3 innings for Washington.
