Bihar TRE-4 Exam To Be Held In Single Stage, Govt Announces Exam Reforms

Patna, Bihar - Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced Thursday that the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4) will now be conducted in a single stage, rather than having separate preliminary and main exams. Along with this reform, the state government unveiled nine additional measures pertaining to students and the exam system.

Two students, who had been on a hunger strike since August 18, ceased their protest after consuming juice. The announcement was made on 'X' by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. The decision came after job seekers and students demonstrated to the Chief Minister's residence the previous Tuesday. An "Expert Committee on Examination Reforms," chaired by a Patna High Court judge, has been formed to propose improvements for various competitive exams.

The committee will also consider student grievances across different examinations. A meeting between student representatives and officials from the education department took place on August 27, chaired by the department's secretary. They further decided to address the "one candidate, one result" issue according to the rules. Subjects such as the transparency of the 70th BPSC examination, the timely conduct of exams by the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC), an inquiry into the 1,799-post sub-inspector recruitment test, and concerns surrounding the Bihar Eligibility Test (BET) for assistant professor recruitment were also addressed and will be presented to the examination reform committee.
