Authorities to distribute solar power banks in Nepal's flood-hit regions

Kathmandu, Nepal - The government has taken action to provide alternative power sources for regions affected by recent floods. The Bhotekoshi River overflowed, causing extensive damage to power projects and leaving 177 people missing, along with 826 others, including over 300 Indian tourists. The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources sent 500 solar power banks to Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading on Thursday, while 300 had already been handed over to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.

These power banks will serve as an alternative source of lighting and mobile phone charging, as the immediate restoration of electricity was not feasible due to a washed-away substation. Nepal Electricity Authority has also restored power in parts of Nuwakot through alternative transmission arrangements. Authorities are working quickly to find the missing individuals, as this is one of the country's worst disasters in recent years.
