Anambra at 35: Soludo declares state of emergency on environment

On the 35th anniversary of Anambra State's existence, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has declared a state of emergency on the environment. In a statewide broadcast, Soludo called for immediate action to combat worsening gully erosion, flooding, and land degradation, warning these issues pose an existential threat to the state.

To address these concerns, Soludo unveiled a renewed "Clean and Green Initiative," which aims to enhance environmental protection through community participation and personal responsibility. He stressed that while his administration has made significant strides in tackling insecurity, environmental degradation must be the top priority for the state's future.

Soludo urged Anambra residents to choose green over grey, envisioning a healthier, more livable, and prosperous Anambra for future generations. He emphasized the collective responsibility of every citizen to plant trees, prevent littering, safeguard drains, and maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.

The governor's wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, echoed her husband's sentiments during her address. She praised the people of Anambra for their resilience over the past 35 years, acknowledging their efforts in making the state a land of promise and great possibilities. Dr. Soludo encouraged the community to continue building an Anambra where every child can dream, every family can thrive, and every community can look forward to the future with confidence.
