Pakatan Harapan (PH) lawmaker J Arul Kumar has urged the Negeri Sembilan state government to reconsider instructions to return funds received from the government between July and September following the dissolution of the Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN). Arul Kumar told Sinar Harian that all PH lawmakers use some of that funding for the benefit of the public, with some having used it entirely.

When funds are received, they are distributed to individuals or organizations such as schools, associations, neighborhood watch committees, and village development councils. The lawmaker said that the funds are not used for personal benefit or political purposes, but only for community activities. At a media briefing in Seremban, Arul Kumar said Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim had asked the 17 former PH and two DUN coordinators under the previous state government to return RM150,000 for the August and September period, while 10 PH lawmakers and two DUN coordinators from Labu and Paroi had to return RM174,000 and RM150,000 respectively for July to September.

Arul Kumar said it is difficult to return the funds due to their large amount, and they are allocated on a yearly basis, not monthly. He said all PH lawmakers and two coordinators have submitted financial reports to the Chief Minister's office by June 30, while the remaining funds have already been returned before July 10. Arul Kumar said he will meet the Chief Minister to get further clarification on the matter after receiving a formal letter from the state government.
