350 performers to take the stage for Konsert Kita Bagi Jadi @ Ambang Merdeka 2026

KUALA LUMPUR: A three-day festival is set to transform Dataran Merdeka into a hub of live performances, cultural activities, and local business engagement, coinciding with Malaysia's National Day celebrations from August 29 to 31. Organised by CIMB Bank Bhd and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), the Festival Ambang Merdeka 2026: Malaysia MADANI - Kesejahteraan Dinikmati is expected to draw over 100,000 visitors.

Titled Konsert Kita Bagi Jadi @ Ambang Merdeka 2026, the main event will commence at 10.30pm on August 30, offering a 90-minute musical journey that culminates in a countdown at midnight and a fireworks display over Dataran Merdeka. Choreographed by Pat Ibrahim, the production carries the theme Menyusuri Sejarah, Memperkasa Semangat and features a diverse lineup of renowned Malaysian artists, including Aina Abdul, Aman RA, Nadia Aqilah, Asmidar, Haziq Rosebi, Mimifly, Izen Kong, and Pasya.

This event, which will involve 350 performers, including dancers, dikir barat performers, and musicians from the Orkestra Kuala Lumpur, aims to provide aspiring local creative talent a platform while uniting Malaysians through shared experiences.

The festival's executive producer, CIMB group chief brand and marketing officer Toni Darusman, emphasized that the event serves as a means to support local creative talent and bring Malaysians together. The festival is a manifestation of CIMB's brand promise, 'Moving You Forward', creating opportunities for engagement that strengthen people's experiences with the CIMB brand.

Beyond the stage, the festival will showcase Malaysian musicians, dancers, engineers, production crews, and content creators. CIMB will provide digital payment services, including transactions via the CIMB OCTO app and DuitNow QR, to facilitate small businesses' processing of payments and managing customer transactions as more consumers adopt cashless payment methods.

The festival will also feature a voluntary clean-up effort, Cuci-Cuci Merdeka, aimed at ensuring proper waste management after the celebrations. CIMB's brand promise, 'Moving You Forward', extends beyond the festival with outdoor displays at various locations in Kuala Lumpur, such as Menara UAB, KL Sentral, and selected Rapid KL buses.
