2027: APC chieftain backs Yayi’s Ogun governorship bid

Tolu Bankole, a member of the APC National Working Committee, has confirmed that Senator Solomon Adeola, known as Yayi, will represent the party in the 2027 Ogun State gubernatorial election. Bankole, who also serves as the APC National Leader for Persons with Disabilities, dismissed rumors of a change in Adeola's candidacy as misinformation intended to create confusion within the party.

The reaffirmation came two days after the APC declared Adeola as its governorship candidate, despite a court challenge and another party member's claim that Abayomi Hunye was the rightful candidate. Bankole emphasized that Adeola's nomination followed a transparent and democratic process, adhering to the Constitution, Electoral Act, and the party's constitution.

He praised Adeola's qualifications, citing his legislative experience, administrative capacity, and political will. Bankole urged APC members and Ogun State residents to disregard false information and concentrate on strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 election. He affirmed that Adeola's platform aligns with President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda, promising shared prosperity through infrastructure development, industrial growth, youth empowerment, agricultural transformation, and inclusive governance.
