2027: APC chieftain backs Yayi’s Ogun governorship bid

In 2027, Senator Solomon Adeola, widely known as Yayi, has been reconfirmed as the People's Progressive Congress' gubernatorial candidate for the Ogun State election by Tolu Bankole, a member of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress. Bankole, also serving as the APC National Leader for Persons with Disabilities and a significant figure in the Ogun State chapter, dismissed allegations of any change in Yayi's candidacy, categorizing them as misinformation intended to sow confusion within the party.

This reaffirmation occurred two days after the APC officially endorsed Yayi as its governorship candidate, despite a court challenge to the party's primary election and an opposing claim by another member, Abayomi Hunye.

Bankole asserted that Yayi's nomination was the result of a transparent and democratic process, with the names of both Yayi and his running mate forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission as the APC candidates for the 2027 gubernatorial election in Ogun State. He emphasized Yayi's qualifications, including his constitutional eligibility, legislative background, administrative experience, and political commitment, which make him well-prepared to lead the state for eight years.

Yayi's alleged track record in the National Assembly, understanding of governance, and dedication to people-focused development further bolster his case as the ideal candidate for the governorship position.

Bankole urged APC members and residents of Ogun State to disregard what he termed as "fake news" and concentrate on fortifying the party ahead of the 2027 election. He emphasized the importance of respecting the will of party members as expressed during the primaries and appealed to all members of the party and the electorate of Ogun State to disregard distractions and distractions created by those aiming for division.

According to Bankole, Yayi's proposed agenda aligns with President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda, focusing on infrastructure development, industrial growth, youth empowerment, agricultural transformation, and inclusive governance. Bankole reiterated that Yayi is the APC's 2027 Ogun State Governorship Candidate.
