13 from Karnataka stranded in Nepal, Tibet after flash floods

The Karnataka government reported on August 27, 2026, that 13 individuals from the state had been stranded in Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) due to flash floods. The group consisted of people from various Indian states, with 11 from Bengaluru Urban, one from Mysuru, and another from Dharwad. Most of the stranded people were in Timure, Rasuwa district, Nepal, while a few were in Darchen, TAR.

Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara announced that no deaths had been reported and that a helpline had been set up for those needing assistance. He urged people to contact 1070 or 080-22253707. The state government pledged to send senior officials to Kathmandu and take further action based on the information they receive. Home Minister Priyank Kharge also urged Indian citizens affected to use the emergency helplines to seek aid and information.

The Karnataka government is working to identify residents who may be stranded and has appealed to the stranded individuals, their family members, and tour operators to provide details through a Google Form. The State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) is on high alert to monitor the situation and coordinate assistance.
