백운산 정상까지 1시간반 만에 달려온 소방관들…‘반실신’ 등산객 구조

Last month, a 40-year-old male hiker in the vicinity of Baekun Mountain's summit in Gipung, Gipung-si, Gyeonggi-do suffered a fall, resulting in muscle spasms in both of his thighs. The hiker's companions informed him that he was "almost in a half-reality state." After resting for around 30 minutes, the spasms persisted, prompting the group to request assistance from the local fire department.

The incident was reported to the 119 emergency line at 2:31 PM. With the mountain conditions being precarious and darkness looming, the fire department arrived faster than expected. They confirmed the man's condition and requested a helicopter. The hiker was then airlifted to a hospital using the helicopter. One member of the group expressed their heartfelt gratitude in a message posted two days later on the Gipung Fire Department's "Thank You" page.

The grateful individual stated that the rescue team's tremendous effort ensured their safe arrival at the helicopter landing zone and subsequent transport to the hospital. They were deeply touched by the immense gratitude they felt. Throughout the northern region of Gyeonggi-do in this month, numerous incidents involving the bravery of firefighters occurred.

On December 12th, a 30-year-old male in the Buk-joo district of Puju City consumed pizza and makgeolli (rice wine) before experiencing facial convulsions, lip swelling, and breathing difficulties. The man had a known allergy to peanuts. Despite no formal call for assistance, the local fire department responded promptly upon witnessing the emergency.

On December 23rd, firefighter Yang Yeong-do of Gyeongpung Fire Station found a driver stranded in a vehicle that had struck a central median while entering the Chang-dori exit of Dong-dae Mountain. The vehicle was emitting smoke and oil, with the driver unable to open the door due to its position. The firefighter forcibly opened the door and rescued the driver.

On December 24th, Gyeongju Fire Station's administrative officer, Kim Dong-hwan, discovered a vehicle that had overturned on the Gyeonggi-do Provincial Highway, which had been involved in a secondary collision. He worked to ensure the safety of the citizens on board before transporting them to safety. A Gipung Fire Department official stated that the gratitude messages received from the public played a significant role in motivating the firefighters.
