Twins’ Byron Buxton departs game early with injury

Byron Buxton exited the game early after suffering an injury while chasing a ball in the outfield. The Twins' center fielder approached a hit ball hit by Athletics center fielder Henry Bolte, but missed it upon reaching the ball, causing it to land in the center field wall. After witnessing the incident, assistant athletic trainer Jason Kirkman and manager Derek Shelton approached Buxton and helped him off the field.

"He's been dealing with the hip issue, which we know, and I think it kind of caught when he went to stop on the ball that got hit in the gap," Shelton explained post-game. Buxton's hip has been a recurring issue in recent months, leading to two previous injuries that forced him onto the injured list.
