Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has discussed why captain Nkosinathi Sibisi and regular striker Yanela Mbuthuma were not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's match against Sekhukhune United. Both players were absent as Pirates won 2-0, with Boitumelo Radiopane and Oswin Appollis scoring the goals. With Pirates playing three matches in a row, Ouaddou opted to rotate his squad to avoid overloading key players.

Sibisi, a crucial defender, and Mbuthuma, who has been a strong attacker since the start of the season, were rested. The coach also noted the impact of players returning from international duty, emphasizing the need to manage the workload to prevent injuries. Pirates have already lost Thalente Mbatha and Evidence Makgopa to injuries, while Appollis has been carefully managed since his return from Bafana Bafana duty.

By resting Sibisi and Mbuthuma, Pirates aimed to give them a break and evaluate other players. The decision proved effective, as Pirates extended their lead in the Betway Premiership to 10 points after four matches.
