Trump administration issues pause on visa appointments for applicants worldwide

President Donald Trump's administration has temporarily halted visa appointment processes for applicants worldwide as part of an ongoing immigration crackdown, according to a U.S. State Department spokesperson. This decision comes during the second term of the Republican leader in the White House. All U.S. embassies and consulates globally are currently undergoing a training initiative, and visa service appointments have been adjusted to incorporate this training.

Trump's administration has been implementing an aggressive deportation drive and immigration crackdown, which includes revoking visas and green cards, and rejecting applications based on various reasons, such as political opinions and support for pro-Palestinian protests against Israel's actions in Gaza. The administration claims these measures aim to enhance domestic security.

However, the crackdown has encountered some legal challenges. A U.S. judge recently ruled that a Trump administration policy suspending the issuance of immigrant visas to applicants from 75 countries exceeded Secretary of State Marco Rubio's statutory authority, stating that the policy went beyond the scope of Rubio's authority.
