Trevor Story 'Feeling Really Good' About Rehab Assignment Despite Awful Numbers

Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story expressed optimism about his rehabilitation assignment, despite struggling with his numbers. The team is close to reintegrating Story into the lineup, but if he fails to replicate his pre-injury performance, it could negatively impact their offensive capabilities. Andruw Monasterio and Chad Tracy have been reliable contributors at shortstop and second base, respectively, while Nick Sogard and Anthony Seigler have filled in at the latter position.

However, if Story returns to his previous form, he would be considered a disadvantage to the team. He has hit .547 with an OPS during his injury period and is currently batting .250 with one walk and seven strikeouts during his rehab stint. Story acknowledged that results on a rehab assignment may not be crucial, but he feels confident in his physical condition and batting approach.

He acknowledged that the more important aspect is how he feels at the plate, which could potentially dictate his at-bat performance. Story is optimistic about returning to the lineup, but the Red Sox might need to adjust their roster to accommodate his return, possibly at the expense of some of their top hitters.
