Thirteen Routes in Colombian Department Added to the World Map of Religious Tourism

Thirteen municipalities in the Colombian department of Antioquia, including its capital Medellin, have officially become founding members of the Global Religious Tourism Network. This marks a significant milestone for the international projection of this Colombian territory. The recognition comes after a joint effort among mayors’ offices, tourism teams, and parishes, supported by the Government of Antioquia and the Antioquia es Magica strategy.

The process began in 2024, with the selection of these thirteen municipalities last year to join the Global Network of Religious and Spiritual Tourism Destinations.

The Global Religious Tourism Network, promoted by the Tourism and Society Think Tank in collaboration with partner companies, aims to promote religious tourism and cultural understanding in different regions and countries. This platform enables destinations, organizations, companies, and experts to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices while promoting sustainable strategies that respect the cultural and religious heritage of communities.

The thirteen Antioquia destinations join Cartagena and Buga in Valle del Cauca, the only Colombian cities currently in the Global Network. Each destination offers unique religious, cultural, and architectural heritage. Below are the key details about the geographical locations and transportation times:
