Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire: We'll definitely look at adding a player cut by an NFL team

Big 12 conference coach Joey McGuire of Texas Tech is considering adding a player who was recently cut by an NFL team. The Big Ten and SEC have rules prohibiting players previously under contract with NFL teams from playing in their conferences, but the Big 12 does not have such a rule. Coach McGuire's team currently has one roster spot available and would only add one former NFL player.

If a player from an NFL training camp is added, Texas Tech would not have to ask anyone else to leave the team. This move could potentially allow talented players to join the team, despite the new SEC rule preventing them from joining LSU.
