Spurs closing in on another Manchester City star after signing Savio

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to a season-long loan deal for Manchester City's forward Omar Marmoush, with an option to purchase for £60 million next year, according to British media reports on Wednesday. The Egyptian player is expected to complete the medical at Spurs before finalizing the move. Marmoush is now set to become Tottenham's second signing from City, following Brazil winger Savio, who joined the club just days earlier for an initial fee of £75 million.

The club's overall spending for the summer transfer window exceeds £300 million, with other signings including Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson, and Marcos Senesi. Despite the strong squad, Spurs suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat away to Brentford in their Premier League season opener. If Tottenham proceeds with the £60 million purchase, it would allow Manchester City to recoup the £59 million fee they paid to acquire Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025.

The 27-year-old, who scored 16 goals in 62 games for City, has primarily served as a backup to Erling Haaland during his time at the Etihad. Marmoush did not feature in Sunday's Premier League match against Bournemouth and his last appearance for the club was in the Community Shield a week earlier. Since the departure of manager Pep Guardiola at the end of last season, Manchester City has also seen several players leave, including Rodri, Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Tijjani Reijnders, Nathan Ake, and James Trafford.
