Security guard, 22, stabbed by shoplifter at Dollarama store

A security guard, aged 22, was stabbed by a shoplifter while attempting to apprehend the suspect at a Dollarama store in Winnipeg on Tuesday. This incident marks one of a series of violent episodes at the discount retailer. Around 4 p.m. at the store on Portage Ave., the guard from Impact Security confronted a man suspected of shoplifting.

The suspect brandished a sharp object and stabbed the 22-year-old guard, who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but later stabilized. The guard, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed his fear regarding the rising violence against security personnel. Winnipeg police and Impact Security Group president Ron D’Errico emphasized that the issue is pervasive across the province and Canada, urging for better social services and stricter penalties.
