SC youth’s death: CB-CID names six police officers as accused

The CB-CID charge sheet has named six police officers, including a police inspector, in the custodial death case of Scheduled Caste youth Akash Delison. Delison was arrested on March 5, 2026, in connection with a case involving two people being hacked during a dispute in Manamadurai. Initially, the police claimed Delison fell from a bridge while attempting to escape arrest, but his family and autopsy results allege he died from police assault.

The chargesheet, filed on June 18, states that the police took Delison to a eucalyptus grove, assaulted him with an iron rod, and hid the rod while falsely claiming he fell while escaping. Six individuals - Inspector Dileepan, Sub-Inspector Guhan, and constables Kaleeswaran, Mahendran, Deiventiran, and Palaniappan - are accused.

The chargesheet alleges premeditated intent against the six police personnel, who acted with knowledge of Delison's caste.
