Samsung targets luxury mobility with battery, display supply for Genesis GV90

Samsung is intensifying its bid for a stake in the luxury mobility sector by providing critical components for Genesis' flagship GV90 electric SUV. At the heart of this partnership are Samsung Display's high-end OLED screens and Samsung SDI's powerful battery cells. This collaboration signifies an expansion of the existing alliance between the two companies, both of which are aiming to benefit from the rising demand for premium electric vehicles and advanced in-car features.

Samsung Display will be supplying two OLED displays for the GV90. The centerpiece is a massive 24.6-inch central display known as the Cinematic Display, which can function as a 23.6-inch screen while the vehicle is in motion, displaying navigation, driving information, and media content. When the car is stationary, a button raises the screen by 90 millimeters, enlarging it to its full 24.6-inch size. This feature was shipped starting this month, according to Samsung Display.

In addition to the central display, Samsung Display is also providing 13.2-inch screens mounted on the back of the front-seat headrests. This additional display setup is designed to enhance the overall in-car experience for passengers in the high-end Genesis GV90.
