Samsung targets luxury mobility with battery, display supply for Genesis GV90

Samsung is bolstering its ambitions in the luxury mobility sector by providing essential components for Genesis' flagship GV90. The South Korean tech giant's Display division is equipping the high-end electric SUV with top-tier OLED screens, while its SDI arm is supplying a robust battery cell. This partnership signifies an expansion of cooperation between Samsung and Genesis, as both entities aim to seize the burgeoning market for premium electric vehicles (EVs) and enhance in-car experiences.

The collaboration encompasses two OLED displays from Samsung Display, a colossal 24.6-inch central display and smaller 13.2-inch screens positioned on the backs of the front-seat headrests. These displays commenced their delivery this month, as reported by the company. The focal point of the vehicle's interior is the expansive 24.6-inch OLED display, which can function as a 23.6-inch screen while the car is in motion, presenting navigation, driving information, and media.

Upon parking, the screen ascends by 90 millimeters at the push of a button, enlarging to its maximum 24.6-inch dimension. OLED displays known for their self-emissive technology are typically around 30 percent thinner and 70 percent lighter than traditional displays.
