Samsung Announces New Round Of Price Hikes; Galaxy A57 And A37 Affected

Samsung Malaysia has revealed another round of price increases for its Galaxy A smartphones, in response to the ongoing global memory shortage that has driven up component costs. The new changes impact the mid-range Galaxy A57 and A37 models, but not all memory and storage configurations.

For the Galaxy A57, Samsung Malaysia has raised the price of its 12GB + 512GB variant from RM2,699 to RM2,899. However, the 12GB + 256GB model remains unchanged at RM2,399. Interestingly, Samsung has also reduced the price of the 8GB + 256GB version, dropping it from RM2,319 to RM2,099.

Similarly, the Galaxy A37 sees a RM200 price increase, raising the 12GB + 256GB model from RM1,999 to RM2,199. Meanwhile, the base 8GB + 256GB variant stays at RM1,899. It is important to note that these price adjustments will not take effect immediately, but rather on September 7, 2026.

Samsung's reasoning for these price hikes is the same as before – the soaring costs of memory chips and RAM, particularly due to the AI boom that has shifted memory manufacturers, including Samsung, towards specialized AI chips. These chips are more lucrative than consumer RAM, and demand for them is expected to persist. As memory manufacturers, including Samsung, experience increased chip manufacturing prices, it is likely that smartphones will continue to become more expensive as the memory shortage persists.
