Sabrina Carpenter Remembers Dolly Parton: ‘How Lucky Are We All to Have Experienced Your Singular Magic’

Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80 on August 25, leaving behind a remarkable legacy that spanned six decades. Known for her contributions to country music, including hits such as "Jolene," "9 to 5," and "I Will Always Love You," Parton was a singer, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.

Sabrina Carpenter, the singer and songwriter, expressed her deep sorrow and admiration for the country icon in an Instagram post. Carpenter shared a series of photos from the set of the "Please Please Please" music video, where she sang alongside Parton. With a broken heart emoji, Carpenter began her tribute, saying, "Oh Dolly."

She recalled how she felt upon meeting Parton, describing her as "an angel walking the earth" and a "sister." Carpenter went on to highlight the wisdom, humor, and optimistic outlook on life that Parton had shared with her. She emphasized that no one could ever replace Parton, praising her singular magic, voice, and the heart she brought to her music.

Carpenter concluded her message with the line, "I will always love you," followed by three butterfly emojis.

Carpenter and Parton collaborated on a new version of Carpenter's "Please Please Please," which was included in the deluxe edition of Carpenter's 2024 album, Short n’ Sweet. This collaboration, as well as their joint appearance in the music video, where they sang in a pickup truck on an adventure reminiscent of Thelma & Louise, was a dream come true for Carpenter.

Carpenter has long admired Parton as a musical hero, and their partnership was especially meaningful to her. She had previously announced the Short n’ Sweet deluxe edition, featuring a note that read, "And yes that does say featuring Miss Dolly Parton…. she wouldn’t want me to swear but holy sh–!!!!!"

In her Instagram message, Carpenter paid tribute not only to Parton's musical contributions but also to the inspiration she drew from the singer's life and personality.
