Man United finally land Baleba in £70m deal — but fans face wait to see injured new signing in action

Manchester United has secured the signing of Carlos Baleba from Brighton for a reported £70 million fee, bolstering their midfield ahead of the new season. The 22-year-old Cameroon international, who has signed a five-year contract with an option for an additional year, joins the Red Devils as the third midfielder in the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.

United had previously shown interest in Baleba a year ago but were deterred by the Brighton asking price of £100 million. Following speculation around the transfer, Baleba's form suffered last season, but United persisted and eventually reached an agreement. The deal includes an initial fee of £65 million plus potential add-ons of £5 million.

Baleba expressed his excitement about joining Manchester United, stating that playing at Old Trafford would be an honor. He praised the club's manager, Michael Carrick, for his experience and knowledge of the game, which he believes will help him reach the highest level.
