Ruto begins Emurua Dikirr visit days after Gachagua’s tour

President William Ruto commenced his visit to Emurua Dikirr, less than a week after his former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua toured the area. The President planned to host a series of rallies in the region on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, commencing with the inauguration of Maboleo Market, alongside other development projects. Ruto's visit to Emurua Dikirr came after he paid a visit to the constituency to attend the burial of the late area MP, Johana Ngeno.

Gachagua stated that he had been the one to set the agenda for President Ruto's visit to Emurua Dikirr. He claimed that without his own previous tours to the constituency, Ruto would not have planned to visit the area. Gachagua further asserted that by repeatedly visiting the constituency, he would compel the President to follow in his footsteps, as he has done recently, with Ruto visiting the area barely a week after Gachagua's tour.

He criticized Paul Ngeno, the brother of the late area MP, for leaving behind a Ksh1.8 million hospital bill at Top Hill Hospital, which Gachagua pledged to settle. Gachagua questioned why the bill had not been paid earlier and why the family had to wait for his pledge before the money was raised. He also highlighted his efforts to address land disputes in Emurua Dikirr, promising to provide 10 lawyers to aid the community in pursuing legal action.
