Residents demand justice as Mary Habila was buried

Mary Habila, a 26-year-old community health worker, met her untimely demise at the residence of the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, igniting public outrage and calls for justice. Mary's burial in Nok, a community in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, took place without much public information about the ceremony or its timing. When the Daily Trust correspondent visited the community, there were few signs that the young woman had recently passed away, as residents only learned of the burial after it had occurred.

The autopsy report, which the police confirmed had been conducted and its findings were ready, has not been released to the public. The police have stated that the newspaper would need to submit a Freedom of Information request to obtain any details from the autopsy report. This development adds another layer to the controversy surrounding Mary's death, leaving several crucial questions unanswered, such as the findings of the autopsy, when it was conducted, and why the report has not been made public.
