Police arrest fake doctor, smash robbery syndicate in Niger

In Niger State, Nigeria, the police have taken action against two criminal activities. Firstly, a 35-year-old man named Aminu Yusuf from Unguwan-Tukura was apprehended on August 24, accused of fraudulently posing as a medical doctor. Yusuf allegedly administered medications to unsuspecting residents in Kontagora, demanding N30,000 from each individual.

Police spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, stated that Yusuf had no medical background or relevant documents to support his claims. He is currently under further investigation and will be prosecuted.

In a separate operation, the police dismantled an armed robbery syndicate operating in Minna. On August 11, armed men attacked residences in Sauka-Kahuta, stealing laptops, mobile phones, motorcycles, and other valuables. Following this incident, detectives from the Tudun-Wada Division began investigating and eventually arrested the gang leader, Isiya Auwal, aged 25, on August 17.

Auwal led investigators to three other suspects: Muhammad Tanko (27), Francis Yusuf (35), and Amir Musa (28), all from Nasarawa State. The suspects were apprehended in Minna and Nasarawa State, admitting to conducting robberies in various areas, including Mandela, Sauka-Kahuta, Barkin-Sale, Farm Centre, and Highpoint. The gang's alleged leader, Ismaila Abdullahi (50), was arrested on August 19 with a Beretta pistol and two rounds of live ammunition.

The gang reportedly sold stolen goods to an unidentified receiver named Ahmed, also from Maitumbi. The five suspects are currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Minna, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend Ahmed.
