PH perlu akar umbi bukan sekadar bentuk pakatan baharu, kata penganalisis

Analysts assert that Pakatan Harapan (PH) cannot succeed merely by forming a new political coalition, but instead needs to strengthen its core foundation, according to Ahmad Fauzi Abdul Hamid from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Fauzi opines that the main issue with PH is its weak leadership structure, which hinders President PKR Anwar Ibrahim in his campaign.

PH currently comprises of PKR, DAP and Amanah, while Anwar appears isolated without strong leadership support, while PKR relies heavily on Anwar nearing his 80s. Fauzi suggests former PKR leaders, including Tian Chua, should be included in PH's strategy and political coalition, rather than the current three-party model which he deems outdated.

PH's successive defeats in recent general elections may push the coalition to consider immediate changes, including opening up more space to former leaders. Fauzi does not rule out the possibility of Anwar being open to former party leaders, including those who have had issues with the party in various political movements, for the survival of PH and PKR.

DAP may be wary of those involved in the Langkah Sheraton 2020, but PH needs a Malay-Muslim foundation that is rooted in the ground. PKR and Amanah have failed to penetrate this segment, so they may be hoping for 'magical' contributions from former leaders now with Bersatu, referring to Mohamad Azmin Ali. Wong Chin Huat, a political analyst, cautions PH to be careful not to dilute the coalition's essence by expanding its influence, suggesting that if PH or PKR wishes to emulate Umno as 'The House of Nation', they must guard against its management.

Malay reformist voters prioritize principles. Wong warns that if PKR is seen as too accommodating, it may cause reformist voters to switch to Bersatu, which is trying to draw them. Wong advises that if PKR reconciles with former leaders like Azmin, it should not act as if the Langkah Sheraton never happened. Being reconciled does not mean simply inviting him back to PKR for leadership to fill a void. To reconcile, do so in a principled democratic idealistic manner.
