The Malaysian Veterans' Welfare Department (JHEV) has suspended a Sikh veterans' association under its jurisdiction and ordered a forensic financial audit into allegations of mismanagement and lack of transparency in financial reporting. On August 21, the JHEV Chairman, Semaon Marjuki, gave the association four months to conduct an independent audit and submit a report.

The JHEV views this matter seriously as it could tarnish the image of veterans if left unresolved. As such, the department has appointed reputable audit firm, Mohd Noh & Co, at the association's expense. The firm will carry out a professional forensic audit according to the JHEV.

Meanwhile, Semaon stated that MAFSVA is barred from undertaking any activities, including annual meetings or special sessions until the issue is resolved. However, he added that JHEV has exempted the association from holding meetings to formally appoint an auditor and make necessary payments for that purpose. In the meantime, the JHEV will not hinder any aggrieved party from filing a police report if needed, but strongly encourages resolving the matter appropriately in accordance with existing regulations.
