The Malaysian Veterans Affairs Department (JHEV) has suspended a Sikh veterans association under its jurisdiction while awaiting a forensic financial audit. In a letter dated August 21, JHEV Chairman Semaon Marjuki gave the organization four months to conduct an impartial audit and submit a report. The JHEV has expressed serious concern about the allegations of financial mismanagement and failure to properly report, as it could tarnish the reputation of veterans if left unchecked.

To address this issue, JHEV has engaged reputable audit firm Mohd Noh & Co, with costs covered by the association. The audit firm will carry out a professional forensic examination, according to JHEV's letter seen by FMT. Meanwhile, Semaon stated that MAFSVA is prohibited from conducting any activities, including annual meetings or public gatherings, until the matter is resolved.

However, he noted that JHEV has exempted the association from holding a meeting to formally appoint an auditor and make necessary payments for that purpose. At the same time, JHEV will not hinder anyone who has been wronged from reporting to the police if needed, but strongly urges that this matter be resolved professionally in line with existing regulations.
