Penang SPM candidate targeted in sexual cyberbullying gets Education Dept support, protection

GEORGE TOWN, Aug 26 — The Penang State Education Department (JPNPP) has assured measures to protect a 17-year-old SPM candidate who faced sexual harassment via WhatsApp. Director Mohamad Dziauddin Mat Saad confirmed steps were taken to shield the student's identity and prevent disruption to her exam preparations. "The situation has since resolved, and the school will facilitate the student's attendance at classes while offering necessary support and guidance," he stated at a press conference.

The matter was reported to the police, and ongoing investigations were taking place at the school and related sites. The school advised the student to seek counseling to manage her emotions and concentrate on her SPM exams. JPNPP will continue monitoring the situation and collaborate with the school and parents to ensure the student's safety.

A mother, identified as Nur, expressed her frustration over the persistent cyberbullying of her 17-year-old daughter, who had faced emotional turmoil since April due to false posters and profiles circulating her identity online.
