General : JPNPP Assures Safety Of SPM Candidate Targeted By Cyberbullying

GEORGE TOWN, Aug 26 — The Penang State Education Department (JPNPP) has assured the safety and wellbeing of a 17-year-old SPM candidate who faced sexual cyberbullying on WhatsApp. Director Mohamad Dziauddin Mat Saad confirmed that appropriate steps have been taken to protect the student’s identity and prevent disruption to her SPM examination preparations.

The school will ensure the student can attend classes without interruption while providing necessary support and guidance. A police report has been filed, and investigations are ongoing at the school and related locations. The school has advised the student to seek counseling to manage her emotions and focus on her studies. The JPNPP will continue monitoring the case and collaborating with the school and parents to ensure the student’s safety and well-being.

A mother, identified as Nur, 46, called for expedited investigations into the individuals responsible for repeatedly subjecting her daughter to sexual cyberbullying. Her daughter had faced emotional distress after her personal information was circulated through obscene posters and fake social media accounts since April.
