Pak SC to hear Imran Khan sister's plea Sept 16

Islamabad, Pakistan: The Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear a contempt petition filed by Uzma Khan, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, on September 16, according to The Express Tribune. Uzma had petitioned the court over the alleged non-compliance of the Supreme Court's August 18 order that directed Imran Khan's transfer from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital.

The registrar's office rejected her request for an early hearing, scheduling the petition for September 16 alongside the main case in which the August 18 order was issued. A three-member bench comprising Justices Shahid Waheed, Naeem Akhtar Afghan, and Ishtiaq Ibrahim will preside over the matter. The registrar's order revealed that 94 criminal original petitions in the same category were already pending, making it unlikely for Uzma's petition to be heard sooner.

However, since the main case was already scheduled for September 16, her contempt petition could be heard on the same day. The Pakistan government has also filed a review petition challenging the Supreme Court's order, expressing concerns over Imran Khan's transfer to a private hospital. The September 16 hearing will address both the health concerns of Imran Khan and the alleged non-compliance with the August 18 order.
