OSP recovered GH¢8.5m, $2m and saved state over GH¢100m through payroll cleanup – Kissi Agyebeng

Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng has defended the Office of the Special Prosecutor's (OSP) performance by highlighting millions of cedis and dollars recovered, public funds saved, and numerous corruption cases under investigation and prosecution. Speaking at a press conference, Agyebeng emphasized that the OSP's success should be measured by specific outcomes such as investigations, prosecutions, asset recoveries, prevention of financial losses, and reforms to vulnerable systems.

As of December 31, 2025, the OSP was handling 33 prosecutions, 79 cases in full investigation, and 161 preliminary investigations. The office had also secured seven convictions through plea bargains. Additionally, the OSP recovered GH¢8.5 million and US$2 million in financial recoveries, and prevented significant losses in sectors like natural resources, seaports, and customs.

The OSP also contributed to reforms in customs regime and safeguarded the Tema Oil Refinery, which had been inactive for years. Agyebeng stressed that the OSP's impact goes beyond investigations and prosecutions to include preventing corruption and protecting state resources. He urged evaluations of the OSP's work based on verifiable facts and statistics, rejecting political approval or social media reactions as valid measures.
