NSMQ 2026: Pope John sets new benchmark with 72-point demolition to book quarterfinals spot

Osei Tutu Senior High School has secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), defeating Presby SHTS, Osino and Ahantaman Girls’ SHS. The One-Eighth Stage contest saw Osei Tutu SHS emerge victorious with 44 points, outpacing their rivals. The intense competition began evenly, with Osei Tutu leading 10 points, followed by Presby SHTS, Osino and Ahantaman Girls’ SHS.

The second round saw all three schools engaging in a high-speed race, resulting in a close contest. Ahantaman Girls produced an outstanding performance in the Problem of the Day, scoring a perfect 10 out of 10, while Osei Tutu and Osino each scored 9 out of 10. The third round saw Osei Tutu regain momentum, moving to 25 points, while Ahantaman Girls and Osino trailed behind at 19 points and 17 points, respectively.

In the True or False round, Osei Tutu delivered a flawless performance, extending their lead to 41 points. Despite a strong push from Ahantaman Girls, Osei Tutu maintained their dominance into the final Riddle round. Ahantaman Girls started the round with a correct answer, followed by Osei Tutu and Osino answering the subsequent riddles.

Ahantaman Girls concluded the round by answering the final riddle. Despite this late surge, Osei Tutu held their position, finishing with 44 points and advancing to the quarter-finals. Presby SHTS and Osino ended the competition with 33 points, while Ahantaman Girls’ SHS concluded with 29 points. This victory allows Osei Tutu SHS to maintain their hopes of winning the 2026 NSMQ title, as the quiz is produced by Primetime Limited and sponsored by various organizations.
