Mumbai Food Poisoning: 16 Kurla Residents Fall Ill After Eating Momos, 7 Remain Hospitalised

Mumbai, August 26, 2026: Sixteen people from Kurla West's Sundarbag area reportedly contracted suspected food poisoning after eating momos, with seven still hospitalized, according to Bhabha Hospital. Dr Manoj Varma, Medical Superintendent of Bhabha Hospital, stated that the patients began experiencing symptoms on August 24, following their meal on August 23.

All patients suffered from vomiting and loose motions, with some additionally experiencing fever, abdominal pain, and dizziness. The affected individuals comprised five children aged between three and 13 years, as well as teenagers and adults. Two patients were treated through the outpatient department (OPD) and were aged 13 and 14.

Mumbai Municipal Corporation Health Committee Chairman Harish Bhandirge visited the hospital following reports of the incident. He met with the affected patients and hospital administration to review their condition and the medical care provided. The hospital stated that the patients receiving treatment are under medical supervision, while those discharged following treatment were advised to undergo follow-up investigations as necessary.

The exact cause of the suspected food poisoning and the source of the contaminated food will be determined through a thorough investigation.
