Livestock Tech Platform Breedr Raises €23 Million for Global Expansion

Breedr, a livestock technology platform, has successfully raised €23 million to expand its global presence and modernize cattle farming practices. The funding round, led by Partech through its impact fund, was joined by Latitude, the growth-stage fund of LocalGlobe, and the Outsiders Fund. Breedr aims to revolutionize the cattle industry by providing farmers with a digital platform that combines a livestock management app, a verified cattle marketplace, and cattle financing into one unified system.

This integrated approach enables farmers to keep detailed records of weight, health, genetics, breeding, and medicine for each animal, while also allowing them to buy and sell cattle directly through the platform with verified data attached. Breedr's CEO, Ian Wheal, emphasizes the urgency of the problem, stating that beef demand is rising while the global herd is the smallest it's been in 75 years, and the industry must extract more value from every animal.

The platform's data-driven approach has already helped over 1,100 UK farmers, facilitating millions in cattle trades through its marketplace. By leveraging genomic data, Breedr aims to further enhance farmers' understanding of their animals' health, growth, and meat quality, ultimately resulting in increased profitability for the industry.
