Liverpool turn attention to Sarr after Brighton reject Minteh bids

Liverpool are investigating a potential move for Crystal Palace's Ismaila Sarr following their failed bids for Yankuba Minteh. The Premier League giants had submitted £50 million and £60 million offers for the 22-year-old right-sided winger, which Brighton ultimately declined. Now, Liverpool has redirected its focus on Sarr, whose impressive 21-goal performance last season for Palace has caught the club's attention.

Sarr shares similarities with Minteh, such as his position and Premier League experience, but Palace is reportedly not open to selling the Senegal attacker this summer. Last week, Galatasaray also showed interest in Sarr. Despite Liverpool claiming to have made a bid for Sarr, both Liverpool and Crystal Palace have denied these reports.

Meanwhile, Liverpool is also pursuing a deal with Paris St-Germain for France winger Bradley Barcola and is exploring various options before the transfer deadline on Tuesday. Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage hopes to keep both Sarr and his teammate Jean-Philippe Mateta at the club, with the manager confirming that Sarr's contract prevents him from leaving.

Sage also expressed uncertainty about Mateta's future, as the France striker has argued that the final year of his contract should be voided. However, FIFA and a Premier League independent tribunal have ruled against Mateta's claims, and Sage remains confident in the player's loyalty to the club.
