Learn a trade and build practical skills -Nana Ama McBrown to youth

Renowned actress and media figure Nana Ama McBrown has urged the young generation to complement their academic pursuits with practical skills, emphasizing that such training can pave the way to financial independence. She underscored the significance of self-assurance and attitude, urging individuals not to let their social status or educational background dictate their futures.

McBrown also advised youthful adults to pinpoint their passions, cultivate their talents, and maintain their focus, cautioning that attempting to engage in numerous activities simultaneously can impede advancement.

In a recent interview on Joy FM, McBrown pointed out that formal education should not deter anyone from pursuing a trade or hands-on profession. She stated, "If you didn’t get a formal education, learn a trade. Even if you did have an education, still learn a trade or a handy job." She argued that a person's socio-economic background or level of schooling should not dictate their potential for success.

McBrown urged young people to identify their unique talents and discourage them from allowing challenging circumstances to hinder their aspirations. She emphasized, "Everybody was born into this world with something, whether your parents are alive or they’re not alive, whether you have education or you don’t have, I want you to know that you're somebody or who you think you are."

McBrown stressed that cultivating the right mindset is equally crucial in achieving success. She explained that self-confidence can shape how people pursue their goals, encouraging young people to view themselves as capable of attaining meaningful accomplishments. She affirmed, "If you think you're somebody, you will become somebody. If you think you are wayward or you’re just useless for anything, then you will be."

The actress also highlighted social media as a platform that has generated novel avenues for people to establish careers and businesses, independent of the conventional educational system. McBrown encouraged young adults to recognize their passions and invest time in honing their skills in those areas. She noted, "By this age above 20 you know what you want.

You need to fall in love with something. The moment you fall in love with something, you learn about that something and you make sure you equip yourself in that something." The actress warned against spreading oneself too thin by attempting to engage in too many interests at once. She advised young people to concentrate on what genuinely interests them and remain dedicated to it.

She concluded, "Being everywhere doesn’t give you results. Focus on what you think you love and follow."
